Here are several things you can do this fall season to protect your home until the warm weather once again enters the region:

1. Check your gutters. It’s safe to assume that the rain and snow will pick up in the months to come. Are your gutters equipped to handle all this precipitation?

If your gutters are sagging, clogged, or leaking, now’s the time for a change.

2. Inspect your roof. The last thing you need during the fall or winter is a failing roof.

If you have any reason to believe that this is a concern, don’t hesitate to hire a roofing professional to inspect every aspect of your roof.

Remember this: if you catch a small problem now, it’s much easier to repair than a big issue down the road.

3. Take a second look at your doors and windows. In short, ask yourself this question: are your doors and windows keeping the cool air on the outside?

If the answer is no, you may need to tackle the process of weatherproofing some or all of these entry points. Taking this one step further, don’t shy away from installing a new door or windows if necessary.

By taking these steps now, you’ll feel much better about your home’s well being as the fall weather continues to move into the area.
