FLAT ROOFS: MIGHT BE A GOOD TIME TO INSPECT

With the record amount of rainfall in our area during what seems forever, here are some things you should check if you have a flat roof:

  1. Ponding Water: Due to the large amount of rain we have received, it is quite possible that water has accumulated on your roof because it has not had time to evaporate. If not taken care of, membrane damage, algae or accelerated aging can occur.
  1. Blistering: When checking out your roof, look for blistering. This means that water is trapped between the membrane, and it will expand. If not taken care of, blistering can compromise the integrity of your roof and cause interior water damage as well.
  1. If you notice any cracking, which can be caused by any number of factors, have it professional inspected because it could lead to be more serious problems down the road.
  1. Loose Fasteners: When fasteners become loose, they have lost the effectiveness to anchor the roof to your building, making your roof susceptible to wind damage and further weather conditions.

If you notice any of the above signs, as well as any water damage marks inside your home, please have your roof inspected professionally as quickly as possible A professional inspector will be able to assess any damage that may have occurred by both winter snow storms and the nonstop excessive rain in our area during recent weeks.
