Should You Inspect Your Home After a Severe Storm?

If a severe storm rolls through your area, it’s important to consider your safety and well being above all else. Along with this, there’s nothing wrong with keeping a close eye on your home, as long as you do in a safe manner.

Once the storm passes, don’t hesitate to inspect your home for damage. You hope that everything checks out, but you’ll never know for sure until you take a closer look.

Here are a few things you should inspect:

·      Roof. High winds can rip shingles off your roof, thus causing you trouble down the road.

·      Siding. Just the same as your roof, high winds can cause severe damage to vinyl siding, often tearing it down.

·      Landscaping. Both strong winds and heavy rain can do a number on your landscaping. From downed trees to washed away mulch beds, you should inspect your landscaping closely.

While these are a few of the things you need to inspect after a severe storm, there are others that may require your attention. Don’t hesitate to take a close look at your home to get a clear idea of what needs repaired in the near future.
