Top Tips for Reducing Indoor Allergens

Jun 22, 2017

Are you the type of person who suffers from serious spring and summer allergies? Are you concerned that there is no solution to your problem?

While taking medication can help (consult with your doctor), there are a few other things you can try. Consider the following:

  • Keep your windows and doors closed. This may be a challenge, especially for those who like fresh air, but it goes a long way in keeping pollen on the outside looking in.
  • Vacuum often. This may be a pain, but it’s a great way to control indoor allergens, such as dust particles. In addition to your carpet, don’t forget to vacuum your furniture every now and again.
  • Do the wash! Allergens love to hide in throw rugs, blankets, pillows, and all types of bedding. Do yourself a favor by washing all your bedding at least once per week. When doing so, opt for hot water and a hot dry cycle. This will kill dust mites – and that’s exactly what you want.

If you have severe allergies, there may not be anything you can do to completely eliminate this problem during the spring and summer months. However, by following these tips, you may find that you can secure some level of relief.
