What to do if Your Gutters are Failing
Apr 04, 2016As the rain pours down, you begin to notice something strange: your gutters are not doing their job as intended.
Rather than move the water along the roof and through the downspouts, something is happening along the way.
If your gutters are failing for any reason, you have a couple of options:
- Repair
- Replacement
Sometimes, a repair is all that is needed. Maybe two pieces of gutter have come apart, causing a leak. Or maybe there is a clog that is making it impossible for water to pass.
While there are times when a gutter repair is possible, this isn’t always the answer. If your gutters are old, if they have seen better days, it may be time for a replacement job.
Damaged, sagging, or rusted gutters are all signs that a replacement is due. Of course, the same also holds true if the gutters are not performing as expected for any other reason.
It’s easy to believe that gutters are not important to the overall well being of your home, but nothing could be further from the truth. Without these, water can begin to accumulate along the foundation, thus causing a variety of issues. Not to mention the fact that poorly functioning gutters can also cause roof damage.
