In 2024, the Seays suffered the unimaginable loss of their daughter, Vivian, after her courageous battle with cancer. Known for her bright spirit and the joy she brought to everyone around her, Vivian’s passing left a profound void in the hearts of her family and community.
Just twelve months later, tragedy struck again when the Seay family home — a warm, welcoming gathering place for friends, neighbors, and teammates — was destroyed by fire. For a family already navigating deep grief, the loss of their home was an additional heartbreak no one should have to face.
The nomination submitted to Pond Roofing Company described the Seays as “a family whose home was always more than just a house… a bustling hub filled with laughter, kindness, and warmth.” Despite unimaginable loss, the Seays continue to show resilience, compassion, and
generosity — qualities that have long defined them within the community.
Their nominator also highlighted Pond’s own commitment to generosity through the company’s Roof Giveaway, a philanthropic effort established by the Readyhough family, owners of Pond Roofing Company. This exists to extend support to community members facing hardship, and the Seays’ story stood out as one deserving of immediate action.
A Day of Healing, Hope, and Community
On installation day, the Pond Roofing Company team and the Seays shared a moment that will forever be part of the family’s home. Before the new roofing materials were laid, team members invited the family to join them in creating a special piece of memorial artwork on the plywood decking — a tribute to Vivian.
This touching gesture allowed everyone present to honor her memory together, creating
something lasting and meaningful that now lives within the very structure of the home. For the Pond team, it was a powerful reminder that their work goes far beyond roof installation — it touches lives.
