Best Ways to Protect Your Home from Wind Damage

Jul 03, 2019

While the summer months bring enjoyable weather to the area, there will still be times when you have to contend with heavy rain and strong winds. This will concern you on many fronts, including potential damage to your home.

Here are some of the best ways to protect you home from wind damage:

·      Inspect your roof as soon as possible: It’s best to do this before a storm, as opposed to afterwards. This gives you the opportunity to deal with any potential issues, such as loose shingles.

·      Trim back large trees: If there are any large trees in close proximity to your home, trim them back to protect against damage. For example, if a strong storm breaks a branch, it could damage you siding and/or windows.

·      Cover your windows: This doesn’t come into play with every storm, but if hurricane force winds are projected it makes sense to cover your windows with plywood.

It’s your hope that strong winds stay out of the area this summer, but you’re likely to deal with severe storms at some point. Following these tips will help protect your home, while giving you peace of mind.
