3 Unexpected Dangers Resulting from a Roof Leak

Aug 13, 2015

A roof leak is not the end of the world. At the same time, this is not a problem you want to ignore. If you do, it can lead to a lot of trouble in the near future.

Below are three unexpected dangers resulting from a roof leak:

1. Mold and mildew. When water makes its way into your home, mold and mildew could begin to grow at some point. Soon enough, this can spread throughout the structure, thus putting your health at risk.

2. Ceiling damage. Water doesn’t evaporate once it makes its way to the inside of your home. Instead, it will continue to “work its way down.” As a result, you can expect some ceiling damage. This can include but is not limited to bubbling, cracking, softening, and discoloration.

3. Fire hazard. There is a good chance your attic or ceiling contains some type of electrical wiring. What will happen if this wiring is in constant contact with water? As you can imagine, this is a fire hazard that must be addressed without delay.

Nobody wants to learn that their roof is leaking, but it is better to find out now than to wait until something worse happens. If you find yourself in this position, contact us for professional advice. We can inspect your roof, explain the damage, and help you understand if the inside of your home needs any special attention.
