Causes of Moisture in Your Attic
You may not venture into your attic often, but when you do it’s a good idea to keep your eyes open for moisture. If left alone, moisture has the potential to cause a variety of issues, ranging from mold and mildew to dry rot.
There are many potential causes of moisture in your attic, including:
• Warm air reaching a cold attic: This typically happens during the winter season when your furnace is heating the livable portion of your home. If the air escapes into the attic, it can result in condensation issues.
• Roof leak: Even a small roof leak can result in a lot of moisture in your attic. If you notice water coming from above, call a professional roofer to pinpoint the cause and remedy it once and for all.
• Siding leak: If water sneaks behind your siding, it can eventually make its way into your attic (among other areas of your home). Just the same as a roof leak, it’s best to consult with a professional on what to do next.
You shouldn’t have moisture in your attic. If you find this to be an issue, take immediate action. You’ll be glad that you did.
