Dead Tree Branches Can Harm You, Your Home

Dead Tree Branches Can Harm You, Your Home

May 06, 2021

There’s nothing more beautiful in your yard than a healthy tree. Conversely, a tree with dead branches can drag down the curb appeal.

In addition to the unsightly appearance, dead tree branches can harm both you and your home.

Dead limbs become brittle, thus increasing the chance of them breaking. And that’s especially true during inclement weather, such as strong winds and/or heavy rain.

For example, if you have a large tree in close proximity to your home, a falling branch could damage the roof, siding, and/or gutters. As a result, you’re left with a home insurance claim and a repair project — neither of which will excite you.

Rather than take this risk, here’s what you should do:

•    Regularly inspect your trees for dead branches and other potential concerns

•    Remove any dead branches

•    Proactively trim your tree to prevent future trouble

There’s no such thing as being too safe when it comes to you and your home. Dead tree branches may not appear to be a big deal, but they can cause harm when you least expect it. And that’s not something you want “hanging over your head.”
