How to Keep Cold Air Out of Your Home

How to Keep Cold Air Out of Your Home

Sep 05, 2019

With the fall season quickly creeping up on us, it’s time to prepare your home accordingly. This means many things, including taking steps to keep cold air out of your home.

If you neglect to do so, it’s a challenge to keep your home warm during the fall and winter months. Not to mention the fact that it’ll increase your energy bills.

Here are three simple steps to take:

·      Install weather stripping: This is a simple and inexpensive way to seal windows and doors that let air in. Once you pinpoint the trouble areas, you can quickly install weather stripping to eliminate the problem once and for all.

·      Re-caulk windows and doors: While weather stripping can help, re-caulking windows and doors is a more effective and permanent solution. If you notice any peeling or cracked caulking, scrape it off and replace it with a new bead.

·      Hang insulated curtains: These don’t keep the air from entering your home, but they’ll reduce how much makes it to your living space.

By taking these steps this fall, you’ll find it easier to keep cold air on the outside looking in!
