How to Prepare Your Deck for Winter
Aug 28, 2018While the dead of winter is still a few months away, there’s no better time than now to start the preparation process.
As summer turns to fall, you’ll want to make a checklist of items to complete before the cold weather arrives.
If you have a deck, here are several things you can do in preparation of winter:
· Remove all dirt and debris. With the help of a power washer, you can quickly and efficiently remove dirt and debris, thus making your deck look as good as new.
· Pack away furniture, pots, and planters. Although you may be tempted to leave these items on your deck all winter long, it’s best to remove them entirely. If you don’t, you could cause damage to your deck.
· Look overhead. Are there any tree branches over your deck? Do you have concerns that the weight of a winter snow could bring them crashing down? Rather than take the risk, trim these while the weather is still warm.
Regardless of the type or size of your deck, it’s important to prepare it for cooler weather.
If you follow this advice, you’ll feel better about everything the winter weather will throw at your deck. Not to mention the fact that it’ll require less “start up time” when the spring season arrives.
