Winter isn’t here just yet, but you can feel it coming. The leaves are changing, the air is cooler, and there are some evenings when an overnight frost is a possibility.

With all this in mind, it’s time to prepare your home for winter. While that means many things, be sure to devote the necessary time and energy to inspect your roof.

Here are some of the things to look for:

• Missing or damaged shingles

• Leaks (such as into your attic)

• Wood rot

• Dips in your roof

• Gutter damage (such as sagging, overflowing water, or clogs)

If you’ve noticed one or more of these (or even if you simply suspect it), now’s the time to take action. Waiting until spring of 2021 is a big mistake. You never know what could go wrong over the winter months, especially if heavy snow moves into the area.
