Storm Damage Inspection: Don’t Forget to do These Things

When a strong storm rolls through your area, it’s not out of the question for your house to suffer some damage. It’s up to you to immediately (and safely) inspect your property, all with the idea of pinpointing damage to ensure that it’s repaired in a timely manner.

Your roof is one of the most vulnerable to damage, as high winds and strong rains can impact it in a variety of ways. Look for things such as:

· Missing shingles

· Holes

· Leaks into your home

Along with your roof, pay close attention to the condition of the gutters.

Other things to keep an eye on include:

· Siding damage, such as vinyl siding pieces that have been blown off your home

· Damaged brick

· Damaged trim pieces (which can allow water to sneak behind the siding)

· Fallen trees

At first glance, your home and surrounding property may appear to be in good condition after a storm. While this is your hopes, don’t shy away from taking a strong look at every last inch of your structure.
