Easy Ways to Protect Your Home Against Snow Damage

Oct 09, 2019

With colder weather moving into the area, it won’t be long before the first snowfall. As a homeowner, it’s critical to take steps to protect your home against snow damage.

Here are several things you can do:

·      Seal your windows and doors: If you neglect to do this, when snow melts it could make its way into your home.

·      Check your gutters: It’s critical to prevent ice dams in your gutters, as these can cause serious damage to your home. Furthermore, if an ice dam pulls a gutter off your home, it puts you personally at risk.

·      Watch your roof: Your roof is designed to handle quite a bit of snow, but if it’s old or damaged in any way it may not be able to stand up to too much weight.

Keep your eyes on your windows, doors, gutters, and roof during the fall and winter months. Doing so will allow you to pinpoint any problems before they cause serious damage.

And if you run into any issues as the snow begins to fall, put your safety above all else. For example, don’t attempt to climb a ladder in a snowstorm to clear your roof or gutters. It’s not worth the risk, as there are professionals you can call in who know exactly what they’re doing.
