FALL MAINTENANCE: SIDING
Before winter arrives, make sure you inspect the exterior of your home to make sure your home can slide through bad weather. Take a close look at your siding to make sure you don’t see signs of needed repair or replacement.
Here are a few things to look for on the outside: Holes or tears, warping, sagging, mold or mildew, and dry rot.
You may not attribute any interior issues to siding, but you should pay particular attention to any signs of moisture inside your home: peeling paint, sagging wall paper or water marks could mean that too much moisture is seeping in from defective siding.
Siding issues are not always apparent, but if you do an inspection and notice any of the above issues, call upon a professional for an estimate and evaluation.

Choosing siding replacement is almost purely personal, but you may want to consider potential upkeep when finalizing your decision:
Wood siding will require the most maintenance because it will need to be painted. Additionally, it attracts critters and it will eventually dry rot.
Vinyl siding requires the least amount of maintenance. It comes in a multitude of colors, and the only upkeep is an occasional power wash.
Fiber cement siding maintenance will need to be painted from time to time for aesthetical reasons, but it does not dry rot and will not be eaten by insects and critters.
