Should You Mulch Grass Clippings? Yes!

Apr 16, 2021

With grass cutting season in full swing, you have a big decision to make: will you mulch or bag your clippings?

While there are times when both options are the right choice, it’s typically best to mulch. Here are some of the many benefits of doing so:

•    Grass clippings are a natural fertilizer: You want your grass to look its best at all times, so fertilizing is important. And leaving grass clippings is one of the best ways to do that.

•    It saves you time: There’s nothing worse than stopping and unloading a bag every few minutes. Not to mention the fact that you have to dispose of the clippings, which takes up space in landfills.

•    Hydration: Did you know that grass is comprised of roughly 80 percent water? So, when you leave grass clippings behind, you’re actually watering your lawn.

When your grass is long and/or full of weeds, you may want to bag your clippings. However, once you get your lawn in order, consider the benefits above. You’ll soon come to find that it’s the best approach for the health and appearance of your lawn.
