As a homeowner, you know that the cold winter months can wreak havoc on your property. From cold temperatures to snow and ice, you never know what Mother Nature will bring your way.
When the time comes to winterize your home (don’t wait any longer), here are some overlooked yet useful things you should be doing:
- Inspect your roof to ensure that everything is in good working condition. For example, all of the shingles should be in place and secure.
- Seal all air leaks. From your windows to your doors, this will improve the energy efficiency of your home while also keeping you warm.
- Insulate exposed plumbing. Do you really want to risk a burst pipe this winter season?
- Shut off hose bibs on the inside and drain outside valves.
All of these steps are easy to take, as long as you put your mind to it at the right time. Sure, you may need some professional help, but it’s better to spend a little money now than a lot of money down the road
Now that we’re into December, you can’t wait any longer to winterize your home. If you’ve yet to take the necessary steps, get started today.
